Carbon Reduction Plan

1. Commitment to Net Zero

Supported Steps CIC is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, in alignment with the UK Government’s national target. As a community interest company providing in-home care and support services, our activities primarily involve direct care delivery within clients’ homes. Although remote working is not applicable to our service model, we are actively working to reduce our carbon footprint across all operational areas.

2. Current Emission Sources

The main sources of carbon emissions from Supported Steps CIC include:
Staff travel to and from client homes.
Use of company vehicles and personal vehicles for work purposes.
Energy use within office and administrative premises.
Procurement of goods and supplies.

3. Carbon Reduction Measures

To minimise our environmental impact, Supported Steps CIC has implemented and will continue to strengthen the following measures:
Optimising staff travel routes to reduce total mileage.
Encouraging car sharing and efficient rota scheduling.
Transitioning to low-emission and hybrid vehicles where possible.
Reducing paper use through digital record keeping and communication.
Managing office energy use with efficient lighting, heating, and appliance controls.
Prioritising local and sustainable suppliers for goods and consumables.

4. Monitoring and Reporting

We will monitor our carbon reduction progress annually and review our plan to ensure continuous improvement. Emission reduction data will be used to set measurable targets each year.

5. Future Plans

We will explore opportunities for renewable energy use, further travel efficiencies, and supplier engagement to support sustainability.

6. Declaration

Supported Steps CIC confirms its commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 and to continually improving environmental performance as part of our operational values and community responsibility.
